Writing email updates people can use
Before drafting an email, decide who needs it and what they should do with it. A customer update, a partner note, and an internal announcement have different jobs. Sending one message to everyone usually makes it less useful to each group.
Write the subject line after the body. Put the main change and any action near the top, then add context. Test links and check the message on a phone. If approval is required, leave enough time for that review before the send date.
Measure the result that matches the email’s purpose. Open rates alone cannot tell you whether people understood a change or completed a task.
