Custom insurance platform

Rebuilding BlackArrow Into a Multi-Line Insurance Platform

A custom platform for an independent Eastern NC insurance brokerage — over 17 coverage pages, four city pages, a 4-step quote tool, and a content library all running off one admin.

What needed solving.

BlackArrow has been the local insurance brokerage of Eastern North Carolina since 2002 — two offices, a team of nine, and partnerships with 20+ carriers. They sell seventeen distinct coverage types across personal, commercial, and property insurance.

But the old website gave away almost none of it. A handful of static pages, no real search presence for any specific coverage type or city they serve, and no clean path to a quote. Anyone Googling 'homeowners insurance Greenville NC' or 'builder's risk near Raleigh' was finding competitors instead.

Three things had to happen. The full product catalog needed to be discoverable on Google. Every visitor — no matter what page they land on — needed a single clear path to a quote. And the BlackArrow team needed real tools to run policy servicing and publish content without calling a developer.

The build.

We built a custom platform with a single content management system underneath everything. Every coverage type, every service area, every team bio, and every article is one record the team edits in one place — and every page on the website rebuilds itself from those records.

Seventeen coverage pages, one consistent layout.

Coverages are grouped into three families: Personal (homeowners, auto, life, boat), Commercial (general liability, cyber, BOP, workers' comp, and more), and Property (rentals, builder's risk, vacant). Each coverage gets its own templated page with what's covered, who it's for, FAQs, and pricing factors — all built to rank for that specific search.

Four city pages tuned for local search.

Greenville, Whiteville, Wilmington, and Raleigh each have their own page. Each one talks to its market — flood exposure for Greenville, coastal wind for Wilmington, the commercial mix in Raleigh — and is built to show up in local search.

A 4-step quote tool that every CTA points to.

Visitors walk through Personal → Coverage → Property → Review with a clear progress bar and a sidebar reminding them why BlackArrow ('20+ years, 20+ carriers, licensed local agents'). Every 'Get a Quote' button anywhere on the site funnels here.

Real policy-servicing tools.

Forms for mortgagee changes and loan number updates, plus a 'File a Claim' page that links directly into all 18 carrier portals — Progressive, Universal Property, The Hartford, Travelers, and more. Clients route themselves; the agency stops fielding 'how do I file a claim?' phone calls.

A 51-article knowledge center.

Every article cross-links back to the coverage it's about. So someone reading 'The Cost of Skipping General Liability' lands one click away from the General Liability page, which funnels to the quote tool.

One admin, every page.

Add a coverage, edit a city page, publish an article, update a team bio — it all happens in one place, and every public page rebuilds itself. The BlackArrow team ships content without a developer in the loop.

How the engagement ran.

Phased delivery, led by the developers building it at every stage.

01Phase 1 of 5

Mapping the product catalog

We mapped BlackArrow's full catalog into three coverage families, four service areas, and seventeen coverage products. That structure became the URL plan, the admin schema, and the shared template every coverage page now inherits.

02Phase 2 of 5

Building the platform foundation

A custom admin where coverages, locations, carriers, articles, and team members are all first-class records linked to each other — paired with a fast modern front-end that reads from the admin and rebuilds affected pages on every publish.

03Phase 3 of 5

Templated coverage and city pages

Shipped the coverage page template, the city lander template, and the article template — all tuned for search, all cross-linked, all running off the same shared layout so a new coverage takes minutes instead of days.

04Phase 4 of 5

Quote tool and policy tools

Designed and built the four-step quote tool, the mortgagee and loan number change forms, and the carrier-linked claims page. Wired every primary CTA across the site to funnel into the quote tool.

05Phase 5 of 5

Loading content and launching

Loaded the initial seventeen coverages, four city pages, nine team bios, and fifty-one articles. Migrated the existing policy-servicing workflows onto the new forms and shipped.
